Wheat dosa

Wheat dosa is an instant version of dosa which is healthy and prepared using wheat and rice flour. It is the easiest dosa variety which can be prepared in a short time as it does not require any soaking or fermentation. This dosa is thin, crisp and loaded with flavours.

Wheat Dosa 
Recipe

Makes  :  Around 12 dosas


Ingredients


  • Wheat flour  -  1 cup
  • Rice flour  -  1/2 cup
  • Salt  -  as required
  • Water  -  as required

To temper
  • Gingelly oil  -  1/2 tbsp
  • Mustard  -  1 tsp
  • Cumin seeds  -  1.5 tsp
  • Curry leaves  -  a sprig
  • Asafoetida -  2 generous pinches


Method


  • Take both wheat flour and rice flour in a vessel.
  • Add required water to the flour and prepare the batter of running consistency. Add required salt. Use a whisk to mix the batter well without lumps. The batter consistency should be thinner than the regular dosa batter.
  • In a pan, add oil and once heated temper with the items given under "To temper" and add it to the batter.
  • To prepare the dosa, heat a tawa and once heated, pour a ladle of batter from outside and fill any big gaps inside. Drizzle a spoon of oil around it.
  • Cook in medium flame on both sides till crispy.
  • Serve hot with any chutney or sambar. We had with onion tomato chutney.

Notes

  • You can also add grated ginger and chopped green chillies for added flavour.
  • If you want to prepare it quickly, instead of tempering, you can add curry leaves, asafoetida, cumin seeds to the batter directly.
