Homemade Urad dal flour

This is a simple post to explain the preparation of homemade urad dal flour using whole urad dal(without skin). This flour is especially used during festivals to prepare the traditional indian sweets and snacks like murukku, thenkuzhal, seedai, thattai etc. 



Homemade Urad dal flour Recipe

Makes :  1.25 cups

Ingredients


  • Whole Urad dal(without skin)  -  1 cup


Method

  1. In a pan, dry roast the urad dal in low to medium flame. Do this with constant and even stirring.
  2. Roast till dal turns light golden brown in color.
  3. Allow it to cool down and grind in mixie to a fine powder.
  4. Sieve it 1 or 2 times to remove coarse particles.
  5. Store in an air tight container. It is always best to prepare this freshly when required.
