Banana Almond Milkshake

Banana milkshake with almonds is an easy and healthy milkshake.  The addition of almonds make the drink creamier similar to including ice cream. This is a perfect drink for breakfast or as an after school drink for kids. This is also an easy way to include nuts in the kids diet. I just tried this drink as an option to include almonds for my daughter. I prepared it as an after school drink and she enjoyed it.

Banana Almond Milkshake Recipe

Serves  :  2 - 3 people

Ingredients

  • Banana  -  2 big
  • Almond  -  8
  • Boiled and chilled milk  -  2 cups (I used full fat milk)
  • Honey -  2 to 3 tsp
  • Pistachios  -  2 to 3, finely chopped (optional - for garnishing)

    Method

    1. Soak almonds in hot water for 15 to 20 minutes. If you can soak earlier, you can soak in normal water for atleast an hour.
    2. Peel the skin of the almonds and roughly chop them.
    3. Roughly chop the bananas as well.
    4. In mixie/blender, add the chopped almonds, bananas and the milk. Add 1 cup milk first to grind the almonds and banana. Then add the remaining milk.
    5. Transfer to the serving glasses and if you wish you can add chopped pistachios on top.
    6. Serve the milkshake chilled.
    7. If serving later, refrigerate it. It is always best to consume these type of drinks fresh. If refrigerated, try to consume within 2 to 3 hours.

    Notes

    • Use ripe bananas for best taste. Over ripe bananas work best for this recipe.
    • You can use sugar in place of honey. Adjust the quantity of sugar/honey according to your preference.
    • Garnishing with pistachios is optional. For variation, you can also blend it with banana and almonds.

Try this easy and healthy milkshake!!
