Watermelon Mint Ginger Lemonade

Watermelon is yet another easily available summer fruit. Its natural water content makes it best for hot, sunny days. I have already posted Cantaloupe Juice. Last week we bought a big watermelon. After enjoying the fruit as is, tried this lemonade with the last portion of the fruit.

I usually make plain juice with watermelon but thought of adding ginger as done in my cantaloupe juice. When I was browsing in the Internet for other variations that could be done, I came across ideas of using lemon and mint in some recipes. I was a bit doubtful about using raw mint leaves so ended up using just 1 leaf. But mint added a very nice flavor to this juice. Do try this easy to prepare and refreshing juice..Even kids will love this for the flavor.

Watermelon Mint Ginger Lemonade Recipe

Makes  :  1 glass

Ingredients

  • Watermelon  - 2 cups roughly chopped
  • Ginger  -  a very tiny piece
  • Lemon juice  -  1/2 tbsp
  • Mint  -  1 big leaf
  • Sugar  -  1 or 2 tsp(adjust as required)
  • Salt  -   a pinch (optional)

    Method

    1. I used a very small portion of a big piece of watermelon. Peel the skin and roughly chop the fruit after discarding the seeds. The chopped quantity came to 2 cups for me.
    2. If the fruit was not refrigerated, you can keep the chopped cubes in the fridge for a couple of hours and then proceed with making the juice.
    3. Take juice from lemon as required. Finely chop the ginger.
    4. Take the chopped melon slices, ginger, mint leaf, lemon juice, sugar and salt(if adding) in a mixie/blender. Blend until smooth. If you don't prefer it to be too thick, you can add little chilled water or few ice cubes. But I didn't add any.
    5. Adjust sugar according to your preferred taste and the sweetness of the fruit.
    6. Mix well and serve the juice chilled.

    Notes

    • Add water/ice cubes only if you want the juice to be thin and not very creamy and thick.
    • Always mix the juice well before serving. Also it is best to consume this juice immediately after making.
    • I didn't add salt, but you can add if you prefer.

Easy and refreshing juice - perfect for the hot summer days!!
