Cantaloupe also known as musk melon is a perfect summer fruit which is available during the summer season along with watermelon.
We usually eat it as such or by sprinkling some sugar on top of it. Though it is best to consume fruits as is, this juice will be refreshing to have during hot, sunny days. You can make this in the afternoon and give your kids when they are back from school. I added a small piece of ginger as it provides a nice flavour to this juice. You can skip this if you don't like.
Cantaloupe Juice - Musk melon Juice Recipe
Serves : 2 people
Ingredients
- Cantaloupe/Musk Melon - 1
- Ginger - a very tiny piece
- Sugar/Honey - 1 or 2 tsp(adjust as required)
Method
- Wash the fruit well to remove any dirt. Cut the cantaloupe in the middle using a knife. Gently remove the seed part using a scoop.
- If the fruit is over ripe, you can scoop the pulp using a spoon. If it is not over ripe, peel the skin of the melon and roughly chop the melon into small slices.
- If the melon was refrigerated, you can use the slices straight away. Otherwise, keep the chopped slices in the fridge and use it once chilled.
- Finely chop the ginger.
- Take the chopped melon slices, ginger and sugar/honey and blend in a mixie/blender. Blend until smooth and creamy. If you don't prefer it to be too thick, you can add little chilled water or few ice cubes. But I didn't add any.
- Adjust sugar/honey according to your preferred taste and the sweetness of the fruit. If the fruit has enough sweetness you might not even need to add any sugar or honey.
- Mix well and serve the juice chilled.
Notes
- Add water/ice cubes only if you want the juice to be thin and not very creamy and thick.
- If the fruit is not fully ripe, you can leave it outside without refrigerating.
- Always mix the juice well before serving as the water content tends to settle at the bottom.
Easy and refreshing juice - perfect for the hot summer days!!
