Watermelon Mint Ginger Lemonade

Watermelon is yet another easily available summer fruit. Its natural water content makes it best for hot, sunny days. I have already posted Cantaloupe Juice . Last week we bought a big watermelon. After enjoying the fruit as is, tried this lemonade with the last portion of the fruit.  I usually make plain juice with watermelon but thought of adding ginger as done in my cantaloupe juice. When I was browsing in the Internet for other variations that could be done, I came across ideas of using lemon and mint in some recipes. I was a bit doubtful about using raw mint leaves so ended up using just 1 leaf. But mint added a very nice flavor to this juice. Do try this easy to prepare and refreshing juice..Even kids will love this for the flavor.

Pizza Sandwich - Easy Sandwich Ideas

Pizza Sandwich is a quick and yummy dish which both kids and adults will love. I have made this many times for my daughter's lunch box and sometimes even for a quick breakfast option. I added a small piece of ginger as it provides a nice flavour to this juice. You can skip this if you don't like.

Godhuma Rava Upma Kozhukattai - Wheat Rava Upma Kozhukattai

Wheat Rava Upma Kozhukattai - steamed kozhukattais made with godhuma rava. Godhuma Rava is known by different names like broken wheat rava/samba godhuma rava/dalia/lapsi. But came across this idea of making kozhukattai through other food blogs. We usually make upma kozhukattai using raw rice but that involves an elaborate procedure of soaking and grinding rice to rava like consistency and adding soaked and ground channa dal. But this godhuma rava upma kozhukattai is made using a simple tempering with just the addition of coconut.                   It is a a no onion no garlic dish which is also healthy as it is steamed and has the goodness of wheat rava. As it requires very minimal ingredients, it can make for a quick breakfast or dinner option. Also it tastes gr...

Avocado Banana Milkshake -  a healthy and filling milkshake with the goodness of avocado and banana. This can be easily prepared when you have over ripe banana and avocados. We started buying avocados when we were in Sydney. My hubby used to buy it as it is has lot of nutritional value. But me and my lil one were not big fans of it because of its bland taste. So we started making milkshake using this fruit. When the bananas and avocados are over ripe, you can make this milkshake. It is a perfect and refreshing summer drink.

Ammini Kozhukattai also called as Mani Kozhukattai, is generally prepared on the day of Vinayakar Chathurthi festival. It is usually made with the left over kozhukattai dough. We just roll small balls out of the dough, steam them and do a simple tempering. But this dish can easily be prepared any day as a simple snack or even as a tiffin item. Only effort required will be in rolling the tiny balls😉. This is a very healthy snack as we steam the dish and hence is a good choice for kids too. My daughter loves this snack and hence I prepare it once in a while. Hence thought of sharing here in the blog.                                I have given here a simple version of the dish. Kara Paniyaram with adai batter

Mostly when we grind for adai batter, there will be some leftover batter. My mother-in-law always prepares kunukku with the left over adai batter. She just deep fries small portions of the batter in oil, like how we do for vada or bonda. It will be tasty with the sourness and spiciness of the batter. This time I wanted to prepare something by avoiding deep frying and hence tried this paniyaram recipe with the left over batter. I came across this recipe from here . Since we are making it as paniyarams, less oil will be used. We can prepare it as an evening snack or even for breakfast by pairing up with sweet paniyaram(recipe link is given below).
